Changing My World…One Attitude at a Time

Blood Clot or Not??

morningcoffee.gifFriday already….I often wonder where the time goes. I have had a harrowing couple of days. Wednesday evening my mothers neighbor, who is a nurse, called to tell me she thought they should call the squad for mother. Mom has been having trouble with her leg. It has been painful with some swelling for the last week. The pain was shifting above the knee so everyone thought it best to have it checked for a blood clot. This is also the same leg they stripped the veins from for her heart surgery six years ago. This presented a smal dilemna for me as it was 8:30 pm and I am not able to drive after dark. Totally night blind, I have a hard time walking after dark. I called my daughter to see if she could come and take me to the hospital, which she did. We stayed in the ER until about 2:00 am while they ran tests. Everything came back negative for a clot, which I am very Grateful for, but they wanted her to come back and have an ultrasound on it Thursday. Small town hospital. We took her home and got her settled in for the night. I finally got to bed around 3:30 am.

I went back to Mom’s about noon on Thursday and we were back to the hospital for the ultrasound. It is very hard to work with an elderly patient in pain and the lady who administered the test was fabulous. She was very patient and explained to mom everything she was doing. She even had us wait in the waiting room while she contacted mom’s doctor to give us the results. Praise the Lord, NO CLOT! I am so thankful for that! We still don’t know for sure what is causing all this discomfort but the serious stuff is ruled out.

I am looking forward to a peaceful weekend, not doing much of anything. I hope you all have a peaceful weekend as well!

  1. Wow … sounds like a tense & worrisome experience for all concerned. I’m happy your daughter was able to drive you there and relieved to know they’ve ‘ruled out’ the blood clot. I hope they find and relieve the ‘discomfort’ soon.

Cute image with the morning coffee! Did you create this one yourself?

I’ve published my usual two Haiku posts since it’s Friday:
I Up and Did it Yesterday! at Sacred Ruminations and Baby Beagle Update at Small Reflections.

    Hugs and blessings,

~~I hope Mother feels better soon as well. Your friday ku’s were good as usual. Ya gotta love Buster! No I did not “create” the graphic, I had saved it from an email eons ago. Have a great day!…………………Mo~~

  4. So happy to here ma is ok, or at least clot-free, for both you and her. I know how much you worry about her. You are a good daughter! Love ya, Cricket

~~Thankful there is no clot, with her lungs that would be devastating. Love you too……………Mo~~

  5. I am glad that the blot clot was ruled out. Those can be nasty and are quite dangerous.

My hubby had an artery stripped out of his arm and veins out of his leg for his bypass surgery. I keep a good eye on the leg for any sign of problems.

Your mother might have some arthritis that is acting up. It can cause severe pain and swelling. My knees and ankles have arthritis and it’s no fun. She will be in my prayers.

    Blessings,
    Mary

~~Hi Mary, Mom also had bypass surgery in 2003. At this point it may be a co2 issue. She is on oxygen and blood gases can get screwy. Thanks for the prayers! Hugs!!…………….Mo~~

  6. Sorry to hear about the hospital visit but it was wonderful that your daughter could drive you and even better that the serious stuff has been ruled out.
Hope you get some rest this weekend.
I am taking my 89 year old MIL to the vein specialist to fix her left leg and hope she does as well with it as she did with the right one. We go this Friday.
I hope your Mom will improve and not be in any more pain.
    Peace

~~Hi Dianne, Your MIL is lucky to have you. It is hard when the eldery don’t feel well and can’t get around. We are watching mom closely……..Mo~~

  8. I am glad there wasn’t a clot. I have been thinking about you. Last Tuesday my car caught on fire parked outside of the eye doctor’s office. My two oldest kids were in it when the soke started. I thought of you because I was so thankful that they got out before it really took fire. Thank you for spreading a spirit of gratitude!

~~Hi Amanda!! I am so thankful your fire wasn’t worse than it was. I firmly believe there is a reason for everything and that makes it easy to be grateful. Finding the reason is sometimes hard but accepting it get easier. Glad to hear everyone was ok. Have a great day………Mo~~
