Continued Cleaning part 2

Category: I am Thankful Today... Posted by Greatfullivin at 1:02 pm.

As I continue to clean my house and my soul, I am going through a cabinet Sweetie made me for my kitchen. It is full of cookbooks, loose recipes, a catch all basket (meant for napkins but with paper towels that now tear off in smaller pieces..the only time I buy napkins is for a special event) The bottom of the cabinet is full of my good china. I am going through the cookbooks first. I rarely use a recipe so I have to wonder at myself. I love to read the cookbooks, when I first get them but then I hardly ever use them. Spiritual thought on this…It is so like our Bible, once we have read it and learned a truth we often close our mind and don’t explore further meaning of a verse. Example: John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” I choose this verse because everyone is familier with it. It is often used to testify of salvation. We accept it as that..but…there is so much more here. Only begotten Sonyep thats right, any “religion” that teaches Jesus as a son and not the ONLY son is not keeping with the scripture. whosoever that means anyone…you, me, charlie manson, jeff dahmer and anyone else.in Him not on Him. Believing IN Jesus is a whole lot different than believing on him. Almost 95% of Americans believe Jesus was born and even died on a cross but the percentage is much lower for those who believe in the power of Jesus and his provision for our salvation. perish means to spoil, to rot, to die. Lots of meaning here I think. We accept this to mean death, and it does, which by the way is defined as the separation from God and as you read further in John 3 verse 18 you will see we are condemned already to perish. But I suggest further meaning here…that we should not be “spoiled” or ruined, by giving in to our own ways. Believing IN Jesus allows Him power over our lives to do things His way instead of our own.Everlasting Life” yes this means heaven but it also means not being separated from God..ever! Even when we backslide into old ways we have eternal security as in EVERLASTING life. There is so much more than simple salvation in this verse. Yet if you are like me once you read it and “know” what it says I often do not go back and study it to find the deeper things hidden here. I hope to change that in my life this year. Study more, learn more, apply more. I am Thankful for my salvation through Christ but I am also thankful that believing IN Him gives Him power over my life and that in turn gives me the peace of eternal security.

  1. I tellya, I LOVE being an unperfect girl myself!!! It’s much more challenging and keeps life interesting. Regarding the hair?———LOL, I keep mine short anymore….even kinda “boyish” just so I don’t have to mess with it.

And like I said, I don’t mind lurkers…I don’t really understand just why anyone makes such a big deal over someone not leaving a comment….your life, is YOURS and mine is mine…if you don’t feel up to leaving a comment, it’s no big deal. But on the other hand, I do love visitors. And I too promise that I’ll leave you more comments…in fact, I will add you to my favorites and drop by much more often to where you’ll get sick of seeing me. [hope not]

    Have a great afternoon/evening.

  3. Oh Anni…I would never tire of your wit. You come by as often as you like! We will share our “unperfectness” LOL. Thank you so much for the Link love.
Amanda…It is so nice to hear from you. I stopped around and it seemed like you took a little blogging break. I was so glad to see you at it again. We are praying for your housing situation. It will all work out.

  4. Hi Maureen,
I came over to your blog through Betty who is passing on the Grateful Gals button. I just went to her blog and she needs our prayers today.

I started to read back through your posts but I just had to stop and comment on this one.

Your insight here is just amazing to me. I think so many times we have heard a certain verse for years and even have it memorized to the point where we don’t look beyond at the deeper meaning. I’m also a firm believer that God’s Word is a living thing and He speaks to us through this Living Word if we just take the time to read and “look beyond”!

I, too, am so thankful for my Salvation and for God’s Grace, and that peace that passes all understanding…peace that comes from knowing I am eternally secure in Him.

Thanks for the inspiration that I needed today. Stop by and visit my little blog sometime!

    Hugs,
    Hope
