Changing My World…One Attitude at a Time

Thursday Thirteen # 11

Thirteen Things about Greatfullivin
13 things about criticism
1. To speak ill of others is a dishonest way to praise ourselves.

2.To find fault is easy…to do better is difficult .

3.Nothing quiets criticism like involement.

4.Our own faults are the ones we condemn most quickly in others.

5. Many of the suspicions we have of others are formed by

the knowledge we have of ourselves.

6.It is better to bite your tongue than to let it bite someone else.

7. It is better to say a good thing about a bad person, than to say

a bad thing about a good person.

8.Never judge someone’s actions until you know their motive.

9.When looking for faults use a mirror, not a telescope.

10.No one can improve their life by tearing down someone elses.

11. Never accuse others to excuse yourself.

12. Rarely is it worth the cost to tell a friend what you think of them.

13. What will fault finding people do in heaven?

  1. I love No. 3. I employ this idea all the time. Your worst critics make the hardest (read: neurotic) workers. God bless!

  2. These are so true…it’s good to be reminded of these things!

  3. Number 9 sums it up for me. Great list. Happy New Years and Happy TT

  4. I like #6.

  5. It is better to bless than to curse for sure. I love #6! Happy 2008 to you…

  6. Good list. Some of those are well worth remembering.

  7. I like your first one, very much.

  8. These are very provocative. Where did you find them? (And thanks for visiting my TTO

  9. These are all good reminders. The high number of people who can only look good if they are standing on others is very disappointing.

  10. Very nice reminders — I need to remember with my kids!

  11. After reading your list, I feel like going back and re-writing mine from a kinder and gentler perspective (smile).

  12. What a wonderful list. #13 was the best. :)

    Happy TT!

  17. I can say that I’m guilty to a few of those *turns red* a few times. A conscious effort has to be made to avoid being critical of others.

  18. Happy TT. Thanks for stopping by.

  19. #2 is exactly right. good list!

  20. I enjoyed reading your Thursday 13, and all thirteen are so true. I try really hard to live by all of these. Another good one, which I’m sure you have heard, is when you are pointing a finger at someone else, you have three fingers pointing back to you.

  21. What a brilliant and thought-provoking list. Seeing them all together really sheds some light on the significance of attempts to undermine others.

  22. Excellent post! And so very true…. Where did you find these sayings?
Great TT and have a wonderful 2008

  23. I love 3 infact i will steal that for a speaking assignment I have Thanks

  24. These are so true! Great list you have! Thanks for sharing:)
My Thursday 13 is up as well! Happy New Year!

  25. Great list. As for number 8, I’m learning we are really not supposed to judge at all, whatever the person’s motives are–either for good or for bad. We are supposed to love unreservedly as Christ loved us, and He judged us as worthy enough to give His life for. This is a new concept to me, but very scriptural. It also helps keep me from being critical, which has been a big part of my life in the past. Love and gratitude are key components for me to live life free of criticism. I can’t say that I have fully arrived there yet, but working to that end!

Thank you for sharing these thoughts! Happy TT! Mine is up, too. It’s about thoughts on money. TM

  26. Great advice! I think people don’t always realize the power words actually have! And thoughts are just as powerful!

    Happy New year!

  27. I like number 7. When you think about it, there’s nothing to lose by saying something nice, and a lot to lose by saying something bad. Good thoughts.

  28. WOW - What an eye opening list. Happy TT.

  29. everybody should read this list!! although we shouldn’t have to be reminded of these things, unfortunately every now and then we have to be.

  30. Yay! This one is very close to my heart. Thanks for visiting my TT!

  31. Great list…a LOT of wisdome here!

  32. Very true and thought provoking, great list!
