Changing My World…One Attitude at a Time

Thursday Thirteen #9

Thursday Thirteen
Thirteen Things about Greatfullivin
13 things You can do to make a Happier Holiday for some one else
It’s Christmas and we are busy. It is the time of year for Giving.
Take the time to give.

  1. Give to your local Toy Drive. Because of the toy recall many are not getting what they usually do.
  2. Give to your local food pantry. You won’t miss the price of a bag of rice or a couple of cans of soup.
  3. Give to your local animal shelter. A bag of dog or cat food could spare the lives of a few animals.
  4. Take some cookies to your neighbors! What a great way to get to know them if you don’t already.
  5. Clean out your unwanted books. Donate them to your local school or county library, or a local nursing home.
  6. Take a plate of home made cookies to the local nursing home or packets of sugar free hot chocolate mix.
  7. Volunteer to help with holiday parties at your local elementary school. They are always such fun!
  8. If money is not a problem for you, go to the local electric company and pay someones heating bill that is scheduled for disconnect.
  9. Donate used cell phones or new calling cards to the local womens shelter.
  10. Take an elderly person to do their shopping. Your local Senior Center can find someone for you.
  11. Donate playing cards or board games or old VHS tapes to your local Senior Center.
  12. Shovel some one elses snow…just for fun!
  13. Take the time to help a child make a gift for someone special.

Enjoy your Holiday Season. Make it special for someone else. Remember to feed the birds too.

  10. Those are great ideas. I’m all about the animal welfare and the toys (though how will I know whether the toys I give are safe?)

The toy recall thing is just such a shame.

  18. Don’t know about shoveling other people’s snow…but I could pay someone else’s electricity bill. :) I’d be happy to do that.

  19. Happy T-13! This is a fantastic list. Actually, I’ve been working on #5, and #1 is a good one too. I’ll have to find out where I can donate some toys ASAP. :~D

Thanks for visiting my post “13 Christmas Books for the Whole Familly.”

    Blessings, e-Mom

  20. Great ideas and all easy to do. For some reason #8 especially appeals to me. Am not quite able to do that one (yet) but when I can afford it, I will! Happy TT

  21. What a wonderful post, very thoughtful!
Thanks for visiting my best wishes TT.

  22. What lovely, thoughtful suggestions. I especially like the one about paying someone’s heating bill. Here in the UK the elderly receive sort of a xmas bonus with their state pension which is to be used for heating, but a while ago, there were adverts on TV encouraging neighbours to check on any elderly local residents, as some of them were freezing to death because they were too worried about money to turn on the heating. In our local Borders bookshop they have a gift tree which has the name and age of a local child in care who you can buy a book for. That’s what we usually end up doing. I think it’s so important to think of others less fortunate than ourselves at xmas, and it’s a vital thing to teach our children. Great TT!

  23. The cookie idea is a great one! When I get home tomorrow I’m going to bake up a storm for the holidays and make up cookie dishes for friends, family and neighbors!

    Happy TT!

  24. Wonderful, wonderful suggestions. I’ve already done a few of these; maybe I’ll round the kids up and do more.

    Happy TT!

  25. #3 is great and is a really obvious solution to a little problem we have. We were told to feed our cat Fancy Feast when he got sick but he is now on special food and the other cats can’t eat it. There is a shelter downtown that would probably use the cans. :)

I have two TT13s this week:

  26. Those are such wonderful ideas! I am definitely going to do a few of these. Isn’t that the whole spirit of the season? Thanks for the reminder.

  27. All great ideas, thanks!!!

  28. Very very good idea…I am going to link thislist during the next few days at my blog because it is so good. Many people we forget how we can give. These are some of the things we are going to do this holiday…we are not doing very much else…keeping it simplethis year and see how it feels to do the holiday a little differently…thanks for more inspirating ideas!!!

  29. Donating product to my local public library is something I have done in the past. I should probably take inventory and make another donation soon.

Leave a Reply. I love comments. I respond to all my comments. For me it is all about getting to know each other a little better. Have the best day ever and thanks for stopping by!
