The Day that Lives in INFAMY
Well here it is “The Day That Will Live In Infamy”. It has you know. I am quite a classic film buff. I love the OLD movies of the 30’s and 40’s even a few in the early 50’s. If you have never seen Tora, Tora, Tora I urge you to do so. It is one of the best films ever about the attack on Pearl Harbour. I am drawn to that period of time..the 1940’s. Uh oh…I feel a rant coming on. I have watched numerous films, news reels, and have read many books on World War 2. I am not an authority but I know what I think. I am disgusted with our government and the so called war in Iraq. Don’t get me wrong, I support our men and women over there, I pray for them always. You can show your support as well by putting a banner on your site from Blue Star Chronicles. I am disgusted with the government “playing” war. In WW2 we had a job to do and we did it. War is never pretty. Many were lost and it is sad but that is what war is. The whole country made sacrafices for the “war effort”. The government was not continually questioned and belittled for its effort, people had the mind of Doing Their Part. Everybody is on the proverbial bandwagon for global warming now. I just wonder what it would be like to have a full bandwagon support the effort our service men and women give each and every day. We, as a country, are becoming a joke to the rest of the world. During the war in europe before it became the 2nd World War the whole world shook as the United States of America got involved. Now the world just laughs. Korea, Viet Nam, Iraq…we don’t get involved with an attitude of support and getting the job done. We try to police the world. These countries do not nor did they ever want police. They wanted an Army. We have one, but the government never allows them to do their jobs. This war in Iraq could have been history by now if it were conducted like WW2 instead of like Viet Nam. I don’t very often get on the political rant and this will probably not be a popular post but by gosh, I for one am sick of it. I say get the job done, go on the offensive or get out! Let the terrorists take over, let them control all the oil, then sit back and wait for the war to come to us, on our soil, and IT WILL! Remember on this day and every day to pray for our troops. Even if you do not support the war effort you must support the troops. Have a blessed day and REMEMBER.

Grateful — I agree with much of what you write about the Iraq War and place the blame for it squarely upon liberals in Congress and their collaborators in the news media and left-wing nonprofits. Had our politicians put the country’s interests ahead of their own re-election hopes, we could have finished this war — as much as that is possible when fighting terrorists — much sooner. Thanks for the rant!
I also agree with much of what you said. I remember, quite vividly in fact, how our troops were treated when they were in Vietnam and when they came home. I had an untimely marriage at the tender age of 16 in 1968 and two years later my husband was drafted. Obviously I wasn’t the sharpest tack in the box (pregnant and married at 16, give me a break) but I knew enough to know our country was not supporting the boys they forced to go to that jungle. I remember getting so angry watching the protests at the colleges on the evening news. I used to say that those kids had the freedom to march and speak their mind on their safe campus because my husband was crawing in the mud and hiding in the bushes in a far off land. Although my now exhusband had many other problems which led to our divorce, I will admit being forced to go to Vietnam and then be treated like some criminal when he came home by the “American public” didn’t help much. At this point I totally disagree with how the Iraq war is being handled but I will do what ever I can to support our troops. After all, it is because our troops accepted the call that gives me the freedom to sit at this computer and voice my opinion. May God bless our soldiers and give them peace.
