A Scary Pumpkin FaceYou would make a good pumpkin and liver sandwich. |
If you have the time, you can take this little test and find out what your pumpkin face is. As we approach the big holloween holiday, I thought I would like to reflect on it. I know where most conservative Christians stand and I have to admit, I spent most of my life standing there as well. However, at this point I believe we ,as Christians will be judged on the thoughts and intent of our hearts, not on our outward appearence. I understand keeping our children away from all appearence of evil. What I don’t understand is, how dressing up a child as a pumpkin or a bunny in order to take part in a school party could possibly be evil. I think singleing out your child or grandchild by not letting them participate can cause a great deal of resentment toward you and toward the church and maybe even toward God. You know, the rest of the world celebrates Christmas, maybe not the same as Christians, but they still celebrate. What is the harm? I am Thankful today that our grandchildren will be able to take part in celebrating fall, at church, at school, in their towns. It does not have to have evil overtones, and I am thankful for that.
I am also Thankful today that I have Grandma Duty! Andy and I are watching PBS cartoons this morning. I must admit I never watch cartoons unless the children are here. We have had a lot of rain but I hope we can spend some time outside this afternoon. The boys love to be outside! Wet Leaves….hmmmm….could be fun! Dirty, but fun! Have a great day!
I am so thankful for the lovely weather. Cool enough that it is getting tough to get out of bed, but wonderful walking weather. I am thankful I have a couple of days off and will be able to do some more catching up at home (I know I will probably come into work for part of one of my days).
I am so with you on The Halloween Parties. We are very conservative christians and we let our kids go to Trunk or Treat at church and then we also let them dress up and go trick or treating in our neighborhood. My kids don’t dress in scary costumes like witches, scary devils, anything that will frighten a small child. I don’t decorate my house for Halloween, I do put out whimsical scarecrows and fall decor in my house.
I sometimes don’t understand what the big deal is with getting dressed up….
But I also don’t understand those people that go overboard and try to scare children as they come up to there house to go trick or treating….we have a few neighbors like that, and I really want to scream at them…”WHAT ARE YOU THINKING???”.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog and praying for my little David. I am starting to get nervous now that this is his last day on his meds.
