Add A Story That Changed You Here
When I was a young girl my father was transferred to Ohio from Illinois. I was devastated! I began a new school in the 5th grade. My teacher, Mrs. White, changed my life. It turned out that her son worked for the same company as my dad. He was at the corporate office in Toledo, Ohio and my dad was at a new factory in a small Amish community. Mrs. White took a real interest in me. I became a helper, I often stayed after school to help. Cleaning erasers or the blackboard but mostly just visiting with my teacher. Mrs. White made me feel proud of my dad, proud of my roots. She made me feel accepted in a new school ,a new community. I needed that! Teachers often don’t get the GRATITUDE they deserve. I don’t think I ever told her what a difference she made in the life of one lost little 5th grade girl. I am so thankful that she was a part of my life when I needed her.
