Learning to be "Greatful"
Learning to be
"Greatful"
Learning to be "Greatful" is much like learning anything else. You
wouldn't expect to learn the entire Chinese language in a week and you
certainly will not learn to be "Greatful" in a week either. Being truly
thankful is a learned process. It is our sincere hope that you will learn
the process, commit it to memory and make it a habit.
"And we know that all things work together for good to
them that love God, to them who are the called according
to his purpose."
Romans 8:28  KJV
I urge you to think on this verse. Are you able to
accept all of your
personal circumstance as a journey leading to a
"great" destination?
I like to think of it this way...
Those of you who have children will identify. It is
our job as parents to teach our children how to be
good responsible citizens when they reach adulthood.
I think of this life as our childhood, our journey to
adulthood in the family of God. Do you ever wonder
why we refer to God as  "God The Father"?
Do you see Him as a spiritual parent? Do you
see Him as in control? Do you see Him as
wanting you to be the best you can be? Can you
look at the unfortunate things in your life and
see that there is a lesson to be learned in
every situation?
As you travel through your "Greatful livin"
journey, you will see all things do work together
for the good if you take the time to realize
what God had intended for you to learn and be
thankful for it.
The essence of "GreatfulLivin" is  taking the time to be thankful for
the little things in our daily lives. Our hope is you will take a few
minutes each day to write what you are thankful for that day.  If you
take the time to point out something positive in your day, you will soon
see the negative things are not quite as bad. Being thankful for the
birds singing or much needed rain for your garden will lead to having
more patience with an angry boss or co-worker, a dissatisfied
customer, or a disagreeable child.
Try to be thankful and miserable at the same time. You can't. As you
master the virtue of gratitude, you will discover other virtues will
become stronger and you will become better equipped to handle your
life.
"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial
into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity.... It turns problems into gifts, failures
into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude
makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow."
